A couple of weeks ago, my friend and I went to the Stylist Live event at Kensington Olympia. I usually try to get to as many events as I can throughout the year, and in particular this is one that I’d been looking forward to. We arrived quite early, as these things usually go on all day, and it was already quite busy. On the way in we there was a really cool arrangement on the walls, of the enlarged covers of past magazine issues. Everything was really bright and by the time we entered the exhibition itself, we were greeted by a huge, glitzy, bright wall with ‘Stylist’ on it. This was a great wall to take pics in front of…..You know I had to get up on in there to!!
I think absolutely everyone was really wowed by this wall as they came in. It was definitely my kind of attraction……Pink plus glitz!!! Looking around everything was really colourful, there was so much going on and tonnes to see…….But first and foremost my pal and I thought we’d get the most important over and done with. Seeking out where to get our free can of Gorden’s Pink Gin. Probably not the best idea considering that we’d skipped breakfast (as us mum’s do), and gone there on empty tummies. Anyway we soon found our way to the Gin Bar, where the lovely girls handed over our free drink. To be fair I’m not really a gin drinker, and I’d never tried Pink Gin before, but I was actually pleasantly surprised.
We sipped our Gin, and strolled around to see what we could see. I was impressed by the variation of stands, brands and products that were on show. There was an array of beauty, skincare, hair, makeup and fashion……not to mention art, illustration and other creative businesses!!
I tried on gorgeous luxury hats.
I especially loved this one with the leopard print…. But for £230 I put it straight back lol!
I tried on beautiful handcrafted jewellery from independent local designers!
I bumped into Paula from Super Food LX (@Superfoodlx), who demonstrated some of her lush vegan hair products.
We then went on to test some lush skincare products at the Palmers UK stand, where we met the beautiful Jay from Curlture UK (@Curltureuk).
I was truly inspired by a young lady called Cherelle Brown from KitsCH Noir (@kitschnoir) who creates her own illustrations. She has a fantastic line of cards, wrapping paper, a calendar and other stationary which is now on sale in Paperchase, and is a supberb reflection of Black British culture.
There was plenty of hair and beauty activity going on.
I even got my hair done at a really busy stand, with some Donna Bella Hair straightners!
Most importantly, there were plenty of Insta backgrounds for those of us who just love a pretty picture for our social media!!
So how would I sum up my trip to Stylist Live this year? Yes there was a lot of glitz and glamour, however there were also loads of pricey products on sale…..way out of my budget. It’s a fantastic place to go if you want to get one off designs and new products, and have an avid interest in things like beauty, makeup and hair. It’s also great for a day out with your friends, for a bit of light hearted fun and to get some inspirations. What I didn’t stay to try out was any of the food from the huge offering available upstairs in Olympia. However, once we’d bought a couple of things my pal and I thought we’d better leave before we broke the bank lol. I did however get to meet some amazing people, and try a few new products. Will I be going next year? Maybe if I get my hands on a ticket to see the catwalk shows…..other than that I probably won’t bother.
Have you ever been to Stylist Live? What was your experience when you visited? Are you an avid visiter or is it something you’d like to do but haven’t got around to yet? I’d love to hear your comments.
Until the next time……Keep Smiling!
