I hope you enjoyed the Christmas break and aren’t feeling too overwhelmed by the leftovers, and chocolate stashes still in the cupboard!! I have a few days left off with the kids, so fun and games it is for now.
One thing I will say about the Christmas season is that it really lends an opportunity to pull out your most dazzling and sparkly pieces from your wardrobe, and wear them on an everyday basis, without feeling overdressed. Some of these pieces may have been sat in your wardrobe collecting dust for the whole year, as you’ve had nowhere to wear them to since the last work do or girls night out. One thing I did come across in my wardrobe over the holidays which really fell into this category was a vintage style gold satin blouse. I’ve actually had it for years, and originally bought it preloved from my local British Heart Foundation charity shop.
Key pieces I styled my satin blouse with:
A pair of high waisted skinny fit Topshop jeans (Old). You can buy similar at Missguided.
Preloved Leopard print heels from Marie Curie charity shop. You can buy similar at Everything5Pounds.
A Jon Rocha peacoat from Debenhams that I’ve had for years. You can buy similar from Reiss.
The Earrings were in the sale at River Island. I looked everywhere for the exact match, but the closest I could find is another similar at River Island.
An old choker of mine but you can buy similar on Etsy.
My clutch bag is preloved from a recent swishing event that I attended, but you can buy similar from Boohoo.
A satin blouse is a feminine classic and timeless transitional piece, that can add style and flair to so many outfits. This type of blouse doesn’t just have to be for a special occasion. You can mix and match it to suit your everyday needs. Try pairing with a pleather skirt and brogues, or vintage denim and a pair of simple heels. Layer with a plain white tee underneath, some althleisure pants and chunky trainers, or multiple necklaces and culottes for a more relaxed feel.
Here are my top picks of satin blouses currently on the Highstreet:
Do you have a satin blouse hidden somewhere in your wardrobe? How do you feel about satin? Is it a material you love? If you do have a satin blouse I’d love to hear how you style yours?
Until the next time……
